About us

The school behind the motto

Rooted in Faith. Open to Learn. Inspired to Lead. Success Is Bound. Righteous Oaks International School (ROIS) is a Montessori-based international school in Mowe, Ogun State — where every child is capable of growth when given the right environment, the right guidance, and the opportunity to learn at their own pace.

Our story

Why an oak?

Our crest shows what we believe about children: a tree growing straight out of an open book. Learning is not a container we fill — it is a seed we water. Give a child good roots, honest soil and steady light, and the oak does the rest.

We are more than a school. We are a community committed to raising confident, capable, curious and well-rounded children — children who can think, communicate, create, solve problems and approach life with the right attitude.

ROIS was founded with one question in mind: what does a child become when the environment is prepared with love, the work is real, and the adults around them model the life we want them to live? Our answer is a campus in Mowe where the gates open at 7:45 to music, the work cycle runs long and calm, and the motto is practised before it is ever taught.

Our conviction

We don't compare children. We develop children.

Every child comes to us with a unique personality, ability, pace and potential.

Our responsibility is not to force every child into the same mould, but to understand where each child is, identify what they need next, and intentionally help them grow. From the early years through primary education, we pay attention not only to what a child knows, but also to how the child thinks, learns, relates, communicates and responds to challenges.

Purpose

Mission & vision

Our mission

To provide a Montessori-based, internationally aligned education in which every child is known by name, guided with patience, and formed in character — so that academic excellence and character development grow together.

Our vision

A generation of Ogun State children who can think for themselves, serve with gladness, and stand with quiet confidence in any classroom, boardroom or country they ever enter.

The ROIS experience

Learning is more than receiving information

At ROIS, children are encouraged to Experience → Explore → Think. Learning becomes meaningful when children can touch it, question it, discuss it, practise it, make mistakes, try again and eventually understand it.

Curiosity & inquiry

Our classrooms encourage questions — and protect the courage it takes to ask them.

Hands-on learning

Materials, experiments and real tools put the learning in the child’s hands.

Independent thinking

We coach children to think for themselves before they borrow someone else’s answer.

Problem-solving

Challenges are welcomed as the place where learning actually happens.

Communication & collaboration

Children learn to say what they mean and to work with others well.

Creativity & self-expression

Every idea is given the room to be imagined, tried and shared.

Practical application

Knowledge is used in real ways so that it stays and grows.

Confidence & responsibility

Children are given trust, and they rise to meet it.

We want our pupils to move beyond simply asking, “What is the answer?” We want them to learn to ask: “Why?” · “How?” · “What if?” · “Can I try?”

A blended approach

The strengths of three curricula, in one school

ROIS brings together the Nigerian curriculum, Montessori principles and the British National Curriculum approach to create an intentional learning experience for every child.

Montessori principles

The prepared environment, the long work cycle and the guide who steps back.

Nigerian curriculum

The standards, culture, language and values of our community.

British National Curriculum

An internationally aligned pathway for a changing world.

We combine academic structure with practical exploration, allowing children to build strong foundations while developing the skills needed for a changing world. We believe academic excellence and character development should not compete — they should grow together.

From the first years

Our early years

The early years are not simply preparation for “real school”. They are the foundation upon which future learning is built.

Confidence & language

Our early years environment develops confidence, language, early numeracy and coordination.

Independence & social skills

Children develop concentration, social skills and a genuine love for learning.

Age-appropriate & intentional

A two-year-old should not be assessed like a nine-year-old. Our expectations are progressive and developmentally intentional.

From learning to explore and communicate, to recognising patterns, numbers, sounds and quantities, every stage builds naturally towards the next.

Academic growth with purpose

More than good examination scores

Strong academics should produce more than scores. A child should be able to read and understand, calculate and reason, communicate ideas, think critically, work with others and apply knowledge to everyday situations.

Observed & supported

Our teachers observe children’s progress closely and provide support where it is needed.

Challenged to move further

We also challenge pupils who are ready to go on — so no child is held back by the pace of the room.

Progress, not perfection

We celebrate progress, not perfection. Sometimes the most important achievement is not how far a child has gone, but how far the child has come.

Where the work happens

Our teachers, our mentors

Behind every thriving child is an adult who sees the child, understands the child and believes in the child's potential.

They observe

Our teachers look beyond completed worksheets and examination scores.

They listen

They hear the questions behind the questions.

They ask questions

They draw out thinking rather than only checking answers.

They document progress

Growth is recorded, not just remembered.

They celebrate breakthroughs

Every leap, however small, is named and honoured.

They ask “what next?”

When a child struggles, we do not label the child. We ask: what does this child need from us next?

What we live by

Our values

Four commitments shape every decision we make — from the materials on the shelves to the way we speak to one another.

Godly Mindset

We teach children to see themselves as loved, to respect life in all its forms, and to fix their minds on what is true, good and beautiful.

Right Attitude

Talent is common; disposition is rare. We coach effort, honesty, manners and grit the same way other schools coach reading.

Joyful Excellence

High standards delivered with a smile. Our pupils work hard because the work is worth doing — and because joy is part of the standard.

Community

Family, staff and school are one circle. We parent together, celebrate together, and protect our children together.

Read your crest

What the emblem means

Every element of our crest is a promise to your child.

  • The open book — learning is the soil; it comes first and supports everything.
  • The tree — your child, growing at her own pace, upward and outward.
  • The laurels — the honour we attach to character, not only to results.
  • The three stars — the excellence we expect in mind, in heart and in hands.
  • The ribbon — Godly Mindset, Right Attitude: the daily practice.

Why ROIS?

Small school. Big vision.

We may not be the biggest school in buildings — but we are determined to be giants in building children. Children who can stand confidently, who can think independently, who can learn continuously, and who can lead responsibly. Children who understand that their abilities are not merely for themselves, but can be used to make a difference.

Known

Your child is known by name, not by number.

Seen

Your child is seen and understood, not simply managed.

Guided

Your child is guided with patience and precision.

Challenged

Your child is challenged to go further and to go deeper.

Encouraged

Your child is encouraged to try, to fail and to try again.

Celebrated

Your child is celebrated for progress — and for who they are becoming.

Parents are part of the journey

The most important adults work together

A child's development cannot be separated from the partnership between home and school. We communicate progress, celebrate milestones and listen to parental concerns, because the strongest educational experience happens when the important adults in a child's life work together.

Rooted in faith

The ROIS promise

Building strong foundations today for the leaders, thinkers, innovators and responsible citizens of tomorrow.
