Coding the Jumping Rooster: Our STEM Lab Comes Alive
For the first time this session, our lower primary class sat at the computers not to play games, but to build one.
In this week's coding session the pupils programmed the "Jumping Rooster": pressing the space key makes the rooster jump, collecting flags earns points, and touching the bad food costs points. Every rule on the whiteboard is a real piece of code the children read, edited and tested.
Coding at ROIS is Montessori in spirit — the child is the programmer, the screen is the feedback, and the teacher is the guide who asks the next question. Our Computer Lab follows simple, posted rules: be respectful, keep hands to yourself, and never eat or drink at a machine.
